Between optimism and pessimism, the presidential file is still reeling in the wake of the successive changes and developments that Lebanon and the region are witnessing alike, amid great uncertainty dominating the scene, with the countdown to the date of the election session beginning.

In this context, sources indicate to “Nidaa Al Watan” that the uncertainty and secrecy occurring and the failure to reveal the papers may lead to a session from which white smoke will not rise next Thursday.

As the date of the session approaches, it can be said that the presidential election has entered the decisive stage. Accordingly, informed sources reported via electronic “Al-Anbaa” that communications between the parliamentary blocs had intensified in the past hours, without reaching final decisions in this regard, pending the crystallization of positions in the remaining few days before the date of the election session.

The sources indicated that there is harmony between the blocs on the necessity of electing a president in the current session of the 9th, but not just a president, because what is important at this stage is the arrival of a consensual president capable of advancing the country to a shore of safety.

Block maneuvers!

In turn, political sources express their belief, through Al-Liwaa newspaper, that it was not possible to rely on the past two weeks to talk about the trend related to this file, but today the intensity of parliamentary consultations gives the impression that no party wants the election session to pass without a result. She believes that what the opposition said about not burning names does not mean that it does not have names ready, and what is important to it is a set of sovereign specifications and a government that coordinates with the president of the country, and she asks whether this position indicates a plan. Presidential and governmental, and the delay in not adopting a candidate is due to this matter, but the opposition did not indicate any approval regarding a complete presidential and governmental basket or preparation for it.

The sources also explained that next week is open to the possibilities of unfolding the expected presidential and even governmental scene, while the positions of the blocs may become public or may remain as they are, and therefore the entire data does not indicate encouraging signs, unless an unexpected surprise occurs.

Reliance on the movement of delegates

In addition, many are counting on the movement of Arab and foreign delegates who have begun to arrive in Lebanon, in light of Arab diplomatic circles stressing to Al-Jumhuriya the importance of the visit that will be carried out by a Saudi diplomatic delegation that is expected to be headed by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, carrying a firm stance. He stresses the necessity of ending the presidential vacuum whose continuation is no longer acceptable. He also stresses the necessity of electing a President of the Republic who will restore the confidence of the international community in Lebanon in general and the confidence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in particular.

A political source familiar with a large part of the communications told Al-Jumhuriya, “The names presented will continue to rise and fall, while the international and Arab umbrellas are still blurry, and all the positions announced now do not enter into the resolution and balance of the battle.”

The external password will not come until the last hours!

Parliamentary sources also revealed to Al-Anbaa Al-Kuwaiti that if the blocs were waiting for the external password, it would not come before the final hours and perhaps election day, without ruling out that it had been whispered to very limited parties, provided that it was kept secret and not leaked. .

The sources added, “The countries active on the presidential line among the members of the Five-Year Committee are well aware that once the supported candidate is revealed, campaigns will be launched against him by all those affected under the title of sovereignty and foreign interference.” Consequently, his paper will be burned, and this is what the concerned parties avoid. This matter also maintains caution among the parliamentary blocs and parties, preventing the creation of new blocs and alignments in the face of the lucky candidate.”
