Because of the necessity of having one army and one policy
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi affirmed, in his Christmas message, that Lebanon’s salvation lies in returning to a culture of “positive, active neutrality,” stressing the necessity of having one army and one policy that preserves the country’s sovereignty and prevents its interference in the affairs of other countries.
Al-Rahi pointed out that commitment to neutrality creates a legacy of stability, which enhances confidence in Lebanon as a safe country for capital and allows it to benefit economically.
He added that neutrality is not just a political position, but rather an economic position that supports stability and productive flexibility, which contributes to the renaissance of the neutral state.
Regarding the right to elect a new president of the republic, Al-Rahi expressed his aspiration for the House of Representatives session scheduled for January 9, calling for an end to the presidential vacuum that violates the constitution and harms the country’s interest. He stressed that the election of the president must take place without waiting for names from abroad, pointing out the importance of placing this event within the framework of the Holy Year 2025.
He concluded by stressing that Lebanon needs internal confidence and independent national decision-making to move into a new phase of stability and prosperity.
