Biden’s son faces more lawsuits

Jurors in the trial of Hunter Biden, the son of US President Joe Biden, have begun deliberating on the gun possession charges against him.

Hunter was accused of lying about his drug use when filling out a federally required purchase form while purchasing a gun in 2018.

During closing arguments, prosecutors told jurors that there was “overwhelming” evidence against Hunter Biden and that he chose to lie and violate the law.

But Biden’s defense attorney, Abby Lowell, said prosecutors lacked evidence in much of their arguments, and instead used “circumstantial evidence to try to direct the jury’s focus away from the whole picture,” according to the Associated Press.

If convicted, Biden’s son faces a prison sentence of up to 25 years, while he also faces charges related to tax violations, in a separate trial that will take place next September. (free)
