Here is the price of private generators for March

The Ministry of Energy and Water announced, in a statement issued by its media office, that the fair price for private electric generator tariffs for the month of March is the following:

-33.984 LBP For every kilowatt hour.

– For metered subscribers in cities, densely populated areas, or at an altitude of less than 700 metres:

– Capacity of 5 amps: 385,000 LBP. + Monthly lump sum x 33.984 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.

– 10 amp capacity: 685,000 LBP. + Monthly lump sum x 33.984 LBP. For every kilowatt hour.

37.382 LBP For every kilowatt hour.

– For metered subscribers in villages or remote areas or at an altitude of more than 700 metres:

– Capacity of 5 amps: 385,000 LBP. (fixed) + monthly lump sum x 37.382 LBP. For every kilowatt-hour.

– 10 amp capacity: 685,000 LBP. (fixed) + monthly lump sum x 37.382 LBP. For every kilowatt-hour.

*Add 300,000 LBP. On the fixed part of the meter pricing for every additional 5 amps.

The Ministry explained, “This tariff is based on the average price of a can of diesel fuel (20 liters) in the month of March, amounting to 1,610,205.” Of. This is after calculating all the expenses, benefits, and costs of the generators, in addition to a good profit margin for their owners. We have taken into consideration, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the cost of distributing the tanker from the gas station to the generator.”

It confirmed that it “takes into account in calculating its basic components, such as the cost of oils and filters, and the wear and tear of the generator, the average monthly rate of the dollar in the parallel market, which amounted to 89,700 LBP.” This pricing was issued based on the calculation table approved by the Ministry of Energy since 10/14/2010. In implementation of Cabinet Resolution No. 2 issued on 12/14/2011 regarding taking the necessary measures to control the pricing of private generators, and based on the joint implementation mechanism between the ministries (internal energy and economy) announced on 12/20/2011, which specified the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Water in Circulating the pricing of private generators based on diesel prices at the end of each month.”

The Ministry called on “the owners of generators to adhere to the decision of the Ministry of Economy and Trade requiring the installation of meters to be mandatory, and it will conduct a documented study in this regard in the coming period in order to update the approved equation to suit more and more the fluctuations in exchange rates and the economic and social situation of citizens, taking into account the requirements of the owners of private generators.” .

It also announced that it had sent “to the Ministries of Interior and Economy letters about the pricing for the month of March 2024 to do what is required according to the joint control mechanism.” With regard to elevators and common sections that share three-phase capabilities, the generator owner must calculate the fixed part of the pricing based on the monophase capacity. For example, if the elevator and the common sections are connected to a three-phase breaker of 3 x 15 amps, the fixed section is calculated based on the capacity of 15 amps, not 45 amps, meaning 985,000 liras, not 2,785,000 liras.”

The Ministry drew the attention of owners of private generators and honorable citizens to the impermissibility of making the following additions to the guiding pricing issued by the Ministry:

1- A value-added tax that is not legally justified according to an official registration in the TVA Directorate in the Ministry of Finance.

2- Additional fees or amounts under any pretext, such as the cost of maintaining a generator, networks, etc….

3- Pricing to the consumer in foreign currency.

4- Additional fees for citizens who use solar energy devices in addition to private generators.”

It called on “those concerned with consumer protection, especially the Ministry of Economy and Trade, to tighten control over the proper application of the above guideline pricing and to take the maximum measures against violators, accompanied by the Ministry of Interior, Municipalities, and the relevant judiciary.”

It should be noted that the Ministry of Energy and Water attaches a link to the detailed guide pricing composition table and will also publish this table on the official website: www.energyandwater.gov.lb.
