To establish diplomacy, use sport as a way to build bridges


The “Sport in Motion People in Action Be the Missing Pece”, organized by the “Cartitas Lebanon” Association – the Youth Service, in “Jimnazium”, Antonia Snapot Secondary School – Mar Elias Ghadeer. The opening was attended by representatives of official, political, religious, security and sports personalities, including the Minister of Youth and Sports, Noura Bayerdarian, representing the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, Representative Adeeb Abdel -Masih, representative of MP Salim Al -Sayegh, President of the Cartitas Lebanon Association, Father Michel Abboud Al -Karmali, and heads and representatives of various security and educational institutions.

The event began with the Lebanese national anthem and the “Caritas” anthem, followed by a welcome speech delivered by Melissa Khairallah. After that, Dr. Pierre Mahfouz gave the speech “Youth Cartitas Lebanon”, where he stressed that “the event is a message of support for every young man and a young woman in Lebanon, believing that sport is a means of social expression and achieving dreams despite the challenges.”

For his part, Father Michel Abboud Al -Karmali, President of the Cartitas Lebanon Association, stressed the importance of sport as a way to increase human communication and overcome individualism and closure. He said: “Sports is not just a competition determined by the result, but rather a school to learn the meaning,” noting that “when the young man runs not to win over the other, but for himself.”

As for Minister Biadarian, she delivered a speech in which she confirmed that “sport is an effective tool for enhancing dialogue between cultures and building bridges of communication between peoples.” She added: “This tournament is part of our efforts to serve the youth of Lebanon, and reflects our commitment to enhancing human values ​​that contribute to building a coherent and fair society.”

She also talked about the role of “Cartias Lebanon” in empowering Lebanese youth through programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing their capabilities and developing their skills, with a focus on building societal peace and motivating young people to participate actively in building society.

The ceremony included a dancer of the Caritas youth to the tunes of a national song, and a photo summary was shown on the first day of the tournament. Then the word of the Lebanese and Arab Federation was reviewed for traditional popular sports in which Maroun Khalil dealt with the importance of sports in society.

After that, the championships prescribed for women and men began, and in conclusion, the prizes were distributed to the winners.
