Egyptian French confirmation of full support for Lebanon

The Egyptian Presidents Abdel Fattah El -Sisi and the French Emmanuel Macron stressed, during a joint press conference held in Cairo, the importance of supporting Lebanon’s stability and land unity, calling for a full commitment to the implementation of international resolution 1701 without selectivity, and the need to respect the ceasefire.

President Sisi said that his discussions with his French counterpart dealt with “support for Lebanon and its president”, stressing the need to preserve the unity and stability of Syria, and to implement international decisions in its entirety, led by Resolution 1701 in Lebanon, in a way that guarantees the region to spare more tensions.

In turn, President Macron said: “We confirm our commitment to the sovereignty of the lands of Lebanon and call for respect for the ceasefire,” adding: “Lebanon must regain all its lands.”

Regional crises formed an essential part of the discussions between the two leaders, as Sisi stressed that “peace will remain far away as long as the Palestinian people face woes”, and stressed his agreement with Macron to “unite efforts on Gaza” and provide full support for relief efforts, noting that Egypt lost about 7 billion dollars since the beginning of the year due to tensions in the Red Sea.

For his part, Macron expressed his concern about the escalation in the region, saying: “We worried the dangers of escalation in the Red Sea,” noting that “the political solution is the only one capable of achieving stability”, stressing France’s support for Egypt’s efforts to rebuild Gaza, and rejecting any role for Hamas in its future management.

The meeting also dealt with sensitive files such as Iran’s nuclear program and missiles, and interference in the affairs of the countries of the region.

Macron concluded by emphasizing that “France and Egypt are bound by close ties and partnership,” stressing: “We share Egypt with a clear vision denouncing the resumption of the war in Gaza, and we demand a cease -fire and the restoration of the hostages.”
