US President Donald Trump reduced the concerns that prevail in the markets due to the new customs duties that he imposed, and compared them to a “treatment” aimed at treating American economy diseases, considering that they are very good and wonderful.

At a time when the stock indicators headed towards a new decline today, Monday, Trump told reporters on the presidential plane “Air Force One”, on Sunday evening, “Sometimes a treatment must be taken for recovery.”

He also added when he was asked during his return to Washington after the weekend he spent at his residence in Maralago, Florida, about the decline in financial markets since he announced the imposition of customs duties by at least 10% on all American imports last Wednesday, that his country has become “much stronger” since the announcement of these measures.

In addition, he considered that the decline in the markets was not a deliberate decision on his part. He said he wanted to find a solution to “American deficit with China, the European Union and other countries.”

He added, “I do not want a decline in any market, but sometimes a treatment must be taken for recovery,” referring to the American economy’s dependence on imports, stressing that “the only way to solve this problem is customs duties.”
