Attempts to strangle justice and judges who were not afraid to stand steadily

Roger Abu Fadel wrote in “Al -Diyar”: According to a high -level judicial source, the judicial body, despite what he is going through, still includes judges who believe that justice is not just a job but a message. They face from within the institution, sometimes silently and clearly when they are asked to stand, attempts to strangle justice through unconstitutional means. The source adds that the political pressures that the judiciary is subjected to is not hidden from anyone, but the main conflict today is between those who want an independent judicial institution, and whoever wants it as a political appendix.

Amid this complex scene, the names of judges who did not fear standing in the face of the current, at the forefront of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Suhail Abboud, who took a fixed position on the issue of the independence of the judiciary. He did not submit to pressure, nor did it enter into the game of bargains, but rather raised the ceiling of the legal confrontation whenever he was asked to keep silent. His adherence to the constitution and the law made him a deduction for influential people, but he chose to stay in the difficult position, instead of giving up principles.
As for Judge Jamal Al -Hajjar, he faced an accurate stage at the level of the Public Prosecution, and was able to restore some balance within the institution, despite the fragility of the political stage. Craftly deal with files, and he refused to turn the prosecution into a target platform.
In turn, Judge Claude Ghanem proved a balance in one of the most difficult judicial sites, as a government commissioner at the Military Court. He avoided engaging in politics visitors, and returned some confidence to an institution that has always been placed under a microscope.
It is not possible to overlook the role played by Judge Raja Hamoush, who has responded to one of the most sensitive files in recent years: the Riyadh Salama file with calculated steps and based on legal data, Hamoush did not hesitate to claim the ruler of the Bank of Lebanon and his brother and his assistance, on charges related to embezzlement, money laundering and forgery. Whatever the assessments differ later, the courage to withstand this file is calculated for it.
On the other hand, Judge Maher Shaito highlights as one of the promising names in the Financial Public Prosecution, where he pursues corruption cases calmly and perseverance, and he is known to work silently away from the media, while keenness on the principle of transparency and accuracy.
Judge Nicola Mansour in Mount Lebanon, faced multiple pressure because of the files he was exposed to, some of which are political and some of them criminal. He did not keep, but rather insisted that his decision be issued by his conscience, not from supreme messages or unwritten instructions.
In the midst of this image, a basic requirement of all groups associated with justice is above: Citizens, lawyers, legal, and even judges themselves, awaiting the issuance of judicial formations at the earliest time, because what was followed by the judicial body in the previous era cannot be easily overlooked. The covenant was seeking to empty the judiciary from its content, through direct interventions for him and his team, where the files were opened “the doorstep”, and prosecutions and courts were used as political intimidation tools, while the real goal was to serve narrow interests, most of which were in the interest of melting the covenant, not in the interest of justice.
