A Lebanese judicial source revealed to Asharq Al -Awsat that “the Supreme Judicial Council began coordination with the competent courts to transfer their sessions to Romans and determine the number of sessions that will be held every week.”
The source confirmed that “these courts and a number of investigating judges had previously held sessions in Roumieh during the Corona’s pandemic crisis,” revealing that “most of the cases are confined to the criminal courts in the Palace of Justice in Baabda.”

The captain of the lawyers in Beirut, Fadi Masri, saw that the lawyers “prefer to take trials in the palaces of justice, not outside it, where the natural place and their association with other sessions on the same day.”
In a statement to Asharq Al -Awsat, an Egyptian expressed his understanding of “considerations related to the overcrowding of Romans prison and fear that an explosion took place inside it.” He said: «We held three meetings; The first in the Bar Association, the second in the Ministry of Justice, and the third in the Ministry of Interior, and we stressed the need to respect the lawyers during their transfer to Roman prison, to preserve their dignities and enable them to enter their cars, and not to be subjected to inconvenience and inappropriate inspection work.
Captain Fadi Masri said that “with respect for the prestige of the judiciary and the judges who will hold the trial sessions, this must be withdrawn to the lawyers, in a way that provides them with the conditions for defending their clients and securing their role and mission by respecting human rights and adopting the highest standards of achieving justice.”
The two ministers, Nassar and Al -Hajar, had devoted a long day to set up the mechanism of activating the extensive court hall inside Roumieh Prison to hold the sessions in it, with the participation of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council Judge Suhail Abboud, and the discriminatory public prosecutor Judge Jamal Al -Hajjar, and Minister Nassar announced that the goal is to “activate the court in Roumieh prison, and that the procedures respect the necessary laws and guarantee human rights, the right to defense and the prestige of the judiciary,” stressing that “Efforts are focused on the success of the procedure and the desire for everyone.” He said: «After a few period, we will start working in this court after the completion of the procedures, and we thank the cooperation of the Ministry of Interior, lawyers and judges who will laugh to reduce the overcrowding.
The Special Court inside Romamie was established by the Ministry of Justice in 2019, and was devoted to the trial of the Islamic detainees, most notably the accused of killing the army officers and soldiers in the battle of Nahr al -Bared camp, which took place in May 2007, and continued until August of the same year, and the court was established at that time to avoid the security danger while transferring these detainees from prison to the Palace of Justice in Beirut.
