Macron arrives in Cairo on an official visit

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived this evening in Cairo on an official visit focused on the war in Gaza, as well as the French -Egyptian cooperation in the fields of education, transport and energy, as reported by “Agence France Presse”.

Macron wrote on his account on the “X” platform that he arrived in Cairo to keep pace with the “Egyptian Rafale aircraft”, which he described as a “strong symbol of our strategic cooperation.”

Macron will start his visit with a special tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which will officially open next July, two decades after the start of work.

The museum overlooking the Pyramids of Giza includes about one hundred thousand Egyptian artifacts, including the Golden Gold Tutsa group, while at its entrance the giant statue of King Ramses II stands at its entrance.

Macron will meet his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, on Monday morning, before they joined the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, at a tripartite summit that discusses developments in the Gaza Strip.

The Elysee Palace said in a statement that the visit that lasts for forty -eight hours will focus on the situation in Gaza, where “Egypt and Jordan are essential partners in resolving the conflict.”

On his visit, Macron is accompanied by foreign ministers Jean-Nawil Barrow, the armies Sebastian Lucurno, Economy Eric Lombard, Health Catherine Futran, Research Philip Batist, and transportation Philip Tabaro.

During the visit, Egypt and France are scheduled to sign agreements in the fields of transportation, health, renewable energy and university education.

The visit program for Monday includes a tour of Cairo University and in the subway line that the French company RATP is running. Macron and Sisi also participate in a session of the Egyptian-French Business Forum.

Macron heads on Tuesday to Al -Arish in North Sinai (eastern Egypt), which is 50 km from the Rafah crossing, which arrives in Egypt in the Gaza Strip. It will stress the need to return to the ceasefire, release all hostages, ensure the safety of the residents of the Strip, reopen the crossings, and introduce aid, according to the Elysee statement.

The French presidency explained that Macron will meet in the port of Al -Arish, which is a background to collect aid in order to enter Gaza from the Rafah crossing, members of the crews of French and non -governmental international organizations and the Egyptian Red Crescent. It is also possible for Palestinians to meet.

Macron will also meet, according to the same source, French security personnel working within the European Border Control Mission, which are supposed to be deployed in Rafah.
