The price of the dollar in Egypt jumps to new historical levels against the pound

The exchange rate of the Egyptian pound fell against the US dollar today, Sunday, in the first week of the week, to record the highest price of the dollar at 51.22 pounds for purchase and 51.32 pounds for sale in Faisal Bank and HSBC Bank.

The exchange rate of the dollar at the National Bank of Egypt reached 51.20 pounds for purchase and 51.30 pounds for sale.

The price of the dollar at the Central Bank of Egypt closed trading last week on Thursday, April 3, at 50.54 pounds for purchase and 50.64 pounds for sale.

The lowest price for the dollar was in the morning trading today at the Commercial International Bank, as it recorded 50.62 pounds for purchase and 50.72 for sale.

Observers suggested that the dollar rises were caused by an increase in demand for the American currency, with foreign investors in the Egyptian money market to liquefy their governorates to cover their positions in foreign markets after the declines that global markets suffered as a result of the customs duties approved by US President Donald Trump.

The main index of the Egyptian Stock Exchange fell by more than 4% to a level below 30400 points at the beginning of Sunday’s trading.
