A rare opportunity for peace between Lebanon and Israel

Israeli experts confirmed that the ceasefire and developments agreement in Lebanon and the region, especially in Syria, has created unexpected opportunities to push the peace process between Israel and Lebanon.

And the newspaper “Maariv” said that these changes are an indication of transformations that may contribute to resolving the stretching conflict between the two countries. Experts pointed out that the current circumstances, which were absent from the northern square for a long time, provide a rare opportunity after three different time stages.

However, the newspaper warned that the main challenge lies in how to confirm the ceasefire and fully implement Resolution 1701, a basic step to reach long -term stability.

Experts pointed out that the recent Israeli attacks reflect a positive development in the situation, due to the presence of a Lebanese government and a president seeking to abide by the ceasefire agreement. They pointed out that Hezbollah appears in a weak position, which enhances the Lebanese government’s ability to move forward in implementing its policies.

Experts called on the Israeli leadership to show restraint to ensure the success of the complex process led by the president and the Lebanese government.

They stressed that the major challenges lie in negotiations on the land borders and the disarmament of Hezbollah in the north of the Litani River. Experts stressed the importance of giving dialogue between Lebanon and Israel a civil political nature, with the aim of paving the way for a political dialogue that is not limited to security issues.
