A decision to isolate the President of South Korea

The Constitutional Court in South Korea issued a decision to dismiss President Yoon Sok Yol from working for his attempt to impose customs last December.

The court considered that Yoon’s actions “violated the basic principles of the rule of law and democratic rule.”

The president of the court said: “We announce the following decision, with the approval of all judges unanimously: (We) isolate … Yun Suk Yol.”

In its ruling, the court stated that Yoon “was not satisfied with declaring martial law, but also committed acts that violated the constitution and the law, especially by mobilizing the army and police forces to prevent the National Assembly from exercising its authority.”

The ruling entered into force immediately, which requires early presidential elections to choose Yun’s successor within 60 days, which many expect to take place on June 3.

It is noteworthy that the opposition -controlled South Korean Association, wasolated Yun in mid -December, on charges of violating the constitution and laws by declaring martial law on December 3, and deploying forces in the National Assembly (Parliament) to prevent legislators from voting on the decree and ordering the arrest of politicians. Yoon denied all the charges against him.
