The risks of renewed war and economic repercussions


“Calling of the homeland” wrote: While the fear of the possibility of renewed the Israeli war on Lebanon, it is due to the forefront of its devastating impact on the Lebanese economy. An informed economic source believes that its repercussions will be in the following form:

First: Eliminate the tourist season and its impact significantly, especially hotels, hospitality houses, restaurants and resorts, which means a ruling on scarcity of the dollar.

Second: Lebanon is supposed to participate in the second half of this month in the spring meetings, between the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. It is recognized that this date is the deadline given to the Lebanese government to submit the reform paper that was agreed upon during the visit of the International Monetary Fund delegation to Beirut.

Third: The accumulation of direct and indirect losses, and if the cost of the damage of the support war was estimated between 12 and 14 billion dollars, then it will inevitably accumulate and increase this time, and the matter depends on its strength and duration.

Fourth, this time, the war may take a different destination, targeting infrastructure, state institutions and vital installations, and thus we will be in front of a different scene of war and inevitably in front of greater economic losses.
