Russia has lost about 900,000 soldiers since the outbreak of the Ukraine war

A high -ranking official in NATO (NATO) said Thursday that Russia has incurred human losses of about 900,000 since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine more than three years ago.

According to the official NATO assessments, up to 250,000 soldiers were killed in the conflict that started on February 24, 2022.

“The situation in the battlefield is still very difficult.”

“While we do not expect a major collapse of the Ukrainian defense lines in the coming months even if Moscow continues to advance, we believe that Russia will continue to increase pressure along the front front lines and on Ukraine in general,” the official of the German News Agency said on the sidelines of the NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels.

The official said that Russia is continuing its strategy based on “great losses in exchange for slow gains”, as it indicated to the recent regional gains achieved by the Russian forces in eastern Ukraine, including in Toretsk and near Boucrovsk.

According to the official, Russia incurred 35,140 people in February this year alone.
