Earlier, the British newspaper “Telegraph” quoted a “senior official” in Iran as saying that Tehran decided to withdraw its military forces from Yemen and stop its support for the Houthi group, in conjunction with the United States intensifying its air strikes against the Houthis and the warnings of US President Donald Trump to Iran to stop its support for this group.

The Iranian official, whose identity did not reveal, confirmed that this decision was taken with the aim of “avoiding a direct confrontation with the United States if an Iranian soldier was killed.”

According to the report, Tehran is re -evaluating its policy towards the “agent groups” in the region, with its primary focus on “direct threats by the United States.”

The same source stressed that the main issue in the meetings of Iranian officials is currently Donald Trump and how to deal with his policies, saying: “In all meetings, talk about Trump is centered, and there is no longer any discussion on the regional groups that we had previously supported.”
