Washington closes the door to emptying fuel in the Houthi ports


Tomorrow, Friday, an American decision to end the temporary license that allowed the discharge of refined oil products in the Houthi -controlled ports, in western Yemen, despite the sanctions imposed on them.
According to the US Treasury, the discharge will not be permitted after April 4, as the work of the license that stipulated that the shipments were filed before March 5.

The decision re -restrictions on fuel import operations, including prohibiting any resale or export of refined oil products from Yemen, and preventing financial transfers to the bodies listed in penalties, with the exception of payments related to taxes, government fees and public services.
The decision comes in the context of the United States classification of the Houthi group as a terrorist organization under the strict sanctions that have come into effect since March 4.
The Yemeni government has confirmed its willingness to secure the needs of all governorates from oil derivatives, whether subject to its influence or under the control of the Houthis, in light of the decision of the US administration to ban the import of oil and gas derivatives by the Houthi group through the port of Hodeidah.
Yemeni Oil Minister Saeed Al -Shammasi praised the decision of the American ban, stressing that the ministry is ready to carry out its duty to secure the country’s needs of oil derivatives, and to ensure that citizens are supplied with fuel, including the Houthi -controlled areas. (Arabic)
