We seek to be Lebanon, one electoral circle

The Vice -President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, the scholar Sheikh Ali Al -Khatib, received at the Council’s headquarters in Al -Hazmiyya, Minister of Defense Michel Mansi, who congratulated him on the occasion of Eid Al -Fitr. The meeting dealt with the current situation, especially with regard to the situation in southern Lebanon and the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Al -Khatib also met with the secretary of the Progressive Socialist Party, Dhafer Nasser, where the prospects for the next stage and the challenges presented were discussed.

In a related context, Al -Khatib received a delegation from the “Supply Committee” headed by former deputy Mohamed Berjawi, who made a presentation of the activities of the committee under the current circumstances, especially with the continued Israeli aggression.

The Council also visited a delegation from the “Religions” Foundation, which included its president, Dr. Nayla Tabbara and CEO Alexander Adam, where the two parties discussed youth awareness programs, especially with the approaching electoral entitlements, in addition to the issues of children’s rights. Al -Khatib expressed his willingness to cooperate in future meetings organized by the Foundation to enhance dialogue and rapprochement between the Lebanese.

Sheikh Al -Khatib stressed during the meeting the importance of strengthening the common human values between religions, noting that the religious pluralism in Lebanon is an advantage that enhances coexistence, and that sects differ from sectarianism, where work must be worked on building the state of citizenship, so we wish and strive for Lebanon to be a single electoral circle, so that the representatives of the nation are deputies from the whole nation and not from their sects. Therefore, we see that the aggression against any part of Lebanon is an aggression against all of Lebanon, because it is an aggression against sovereignty, and the defense of the south is a defense of all of Lebanon as well.

With regard to the normalization file, Al -Khatib explained that those who call for it does not represent even the group to which he belongs, stressing the need to stand behind the state to defend the dignity of the Lebanese people.
