Netanyahu praises the withdrawal of Hungary from the International Criminal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised today, Thursday, from Budapest, the “brave” decision of Hungary, to withdraw from the International Criminal Court that issued an arrest warrant against him against the background of the war in Gaza, according to Agence France Presse.

During a joint press conference with his Hungarian counterpart, Victor Urban, Netanyahu said: “You made a brave and initial decision, and I thank you, Victor. This is important for all democracies, it is important to address this corrupt organization.”

On the other hand, the International Criminal Court reminded Hungary that it remains “binding in cooperation” with the court in relation to the arrest warrant issued against Netanyahu, following the Budapest decision to withdraw from the judiciary coinciding with the visit of the Israeli Prime Minister.

The court spokesman, Fadi Al -Abdullah, stated that “Hungary remains obligated to cooperate with the International Criminal Court.”

Earlier today, Hungary announced its withdrawal from the court on the first day of Netanyahu’s visit, which the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for it.

The Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, praised Hungary for following a “strong moral position” through its decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court. Saar wrote in a post on “X”: “Thanks to Hungary for her clear and strong moral position alongside Israel and the principles of justice and sovereignty,” criticizing the court that issued the arrest warrant against Netanyahu against the background of the Gaza war, considering that it “seeks to harm Israel in its defense of itself.”

Last November, Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Urban had invited Netanyahu, saying that Budapest would not implement the arrest warrant a day after the International Criminal Court issued the memorandum against Netanyahu on charges of war crimes in Gaza.
