Türkiye .. The manufacturing sector continues to shrink on March 2025

A poll, whose results were published on Wednesday, showed that the manufacturing sector in Türkiye was shrinking at a faster pace in March, with the continued decline in production and new orders in light of the difficult market conditions at the local and international levels.

The Purchase Manager Index of Turkey, issued by Standard and Poor Global Foundation, fell to 47.3 points from 48.3 points in February, recording the lowest reading since October. The level of 50 points in the readers of the Procurement Manager Index is the separation between growth and contraction.

The new orders witnessed a decrease in March for the twenty -first month in a row, and the slowdown was the largest since October. The new export orders also declined at the fastest frequency since November 2022.

“The difficult conditions of the market locally and internationally led to more slowdown in production and new orders in March,” said Andrew Harker, Director of Economic Affairs at Standard and Poor’s Global Market Intelligence.

Despite the economic slowdown, there were signs of stability in some areas. The stock levels stabilized 10 months after the decline, and the dates of delivery from suppliers improved for the first time in six months, which reflects the low demand for production requirements.

The inflationary pressures were slightly, despite the continued decline in the currency. The employment in the manufacturing sector also witnessed a slight decrease for the fourth month in a row, although the decline was the least since the beginning of the year.

Manufacturers are still optimistic about caution about future production and hope to improve new orders and demand the construction sector during the next year. (Sky News)
