Do Israel fear an imminent attack? Surprising changes in alarm procedures

The leadership of the “internal front” in the Israeli army announced a new amendment in the mechanism of issuing warnings related to the long -range missile attacks, in light of the escalation of security threats and the possibility of Israel being attacked by Iran or Yemen.

According to the Hebrew Channel 14, the time period between the monitoring of the missiles and the launch of the sirens will be reduced, as the official warning will be issued just minutes before the activation of the bile, contrary to the previous measures that were dependent on longer warning periods.

The Israeli authorities stated that this change, which is scheduled to be applied during the next 24 hours, aims to reduce panic in the Israeli street, and prevent the spread of rumors and misleading information, especially after the launch of the last missiles from Yemen. It also seeks to give the population enough time to reach the shelters as soon as the threat occurs.

The Israeli military leadership confirmed that early monitoring systems have the ability to discover remote missiles 10 to 12 minutes of reaching Israeli lands, allowing the issuance of more accurate warnings.

This decision came after an emergency meeting that included the commander of the internal front, the official spokesman for the Israeli army, and officials of the operations and air force department, where security measures were reviewed in light of the recent escalation with Iran and Yemen. Interior demands have also been raised to extend the warning period to give civilians longer time to organize themselves and prepare for any possible attack.

According to the new plan, the internal front will broadcast urgent messages through the media and smartphones when monitoring any missile threat, followed by activating the sirens moments before the missile arrives, with clear directives to the population on how to act.

It is noteworthy that the Hebrew Channel 14 indicated that the threats of US President Donald Trump against Iran, and the intensive training conducted by the Israeli army, may be an indication of preparations for a major imminent attack.

On the other hand, Iranian leader Ali Khamenei vowed a decisive response to any attack on his country, in response to Trump’s statements in which Tehran threatened with an unprecedented blow if it did not agree to a new nuclear agreement.
