There is no immediate alternative to compensation for Iranian energy imports

Two Iraqi officials revealed that there is no immediate alternative to Iranian energy imports that stopped under US sanctions against Iran.

Reuters quoted officials as saying that “there is no immediate alternative to Iranian energy imports.”

National Security spokesman James Hewitt stated that the Iranian regime should slaughter its aspirations to possess nuclear weapons, while the US State Department indicated that Iran is an unreliable energy resource.

“President Trump was clear that the Iranian regime should stop its ambitions to possess nuclear weapons or face the utmost pressure,” he said.

He added: “We hope that the Iranian regime will put the interest of its people and the region above its destabilizing policies.”

US State Department spokeswoman Tami Bruce said that the United States has declined all exact exemptions from the sanctions that provide Iran with any amount of economic support and urges the Iraqi government to end its dependence on Iranian energy sources.

Iraq is a major force in the energy sector, but it lacks self -sufficiency in the fields of gas and electricity, which makes it depend on Iran to compensate for part of this deficiency.
