Syria announces the formation of a committee to investigate the coast events

The Syrian presidency announced, on Sunday, the formation of a committee with the aim of investigating the events that took place in the coast, after confrontations between the security forces and gunmen loyal to former President Bashar al -Assad, and acts of violence that shook the area in recent days.

The presidency said in a statement published on its account in Telegram that the President of the Republic decided to “form an independent national committee to investigate and investigate the facts in the events of the Syrian coast.”

He explained that the committee in charge of investigating the coast events, which took place on March 6, 2025, consists of seven people.

He added: “One of its tasks is to reveal the causes, circumstances and circumstances that led to the occurrence of these events, the investigation of the violations suffered by civilians, institutions, security men and the army, and the identification of those responsible for them.”

The presidential decision stressed the need to “cooperate all the relevant government agencies with the committee with what is necessary to complete its tasks.”

He concluded: “The committee is entitled to seek the assistance of what it deems appropriate to perform its duties and submit its report to the presidency of the Republic within a maximum period of 30 days from the date of the issuance of this decision.”
