Israel destroys combat means in the buffer zone in southern Syria

Israeli army spokesman Avichai Adraei said on Saturday evening that the “Golan Brigade 474” forces destroyed combat means and carried out combing and defensive activities in the buffer zone in southern Syria.

Adraei said in a post on his account in “Telegram”, that “the 474th Brigade forces under the leadership of the 210th Division continue their defensive work and deployment in controlling points inside Syria, where the forces, over the past week, have made specific combing work within the Syrian territories, in light of the intelligence indicators.”

He added: “The forces revealed, confiscated and destroyed many combat means, including rifles, ammunition, missiles and other military equipment.”

He stressed that “the defense army forces will continue to work to remove any threat and to enhance the security of the citizens of the State of Israel.”

The southern region of Syria is witnessing an Israeli military escalation aimed at redrawing its features, not only from the perspective of security deterrence, but also through imposing a new reality, according to Israel Defense Minister Yisrael Katz, who stressed that Tel Aviv will not allow southern Syria to turn into another version of southern Lebanon.

Observers believe that Israel is trying to use the situation in Syria to impose a security wall inside southern Syria, amid internal instability.

In light of the continued Israeli moves, the Syrian government issued decisions condemning the Israeli incursion into the south, calling for an immediate withdrawal. (Sky News)
