A working meeting between the Minister of Health and the World Bank mission

The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser El -Din, held a working meeting with a mission from the World Bank headed by regional director Jean -Christophe Carre and the presence of the Director of the Health, Nutrition and Population Sector in the Middle East Michel Gragnolati, a technical delegation accompanying the ministry’s work team.

Joint projects to develop the health sector have been studied in several areas, including primary health care and equipment of government hospitals with equipment and supplies.

Minister Nasser Al -Din stressed the necessity of activating the implementation of projects to achieve the maximum benefit from them before the deadline for their implementation ends at the end of this year and the first semester of next year.

The Minister of Public Health also stressed the need for the World Bank to play a basic role in the reconstruction of the health sector, the rehabilitation of hospitals and health centers, and to pay special attention to government hospitals to ensure the provision of the best health services for fragile classes.

In turn, Jean -Christophe Carre stressed that the World Bank stands alongside Lebanon and the Ministry of Public Health, explaining that part of the World Bank loan to rebuild what the war demolished in Lebanon will be devoted to the health sector.

He said that he and his team are continuing to support the Ministry of Public Health to serve the needs of the Lebanese.
