We continue to follow up on what happened in Sin El Fil

The Ministry of Public Works indicated in a statement, that the Mirna Al -Shalouhi – Sin al -Fil region witnessed Wednesday afternoon, March 5, 2025, heavy rains that caused the water gathering in a street as a result of the blockage of rainwater drainage channels due to the accumulation of waste and dust, in addition to the blockage of the joint drainage line of the water and rain water. In a quick reaction, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamni, gave his directives to the competent teams that managed to address the problem within minutes. The Supervision Committee for Cleaning Water Streams confirmed that it intensifies its patrols, especially in the winter, to ensure that such incidents are avoided.

In the context of following up the incident, Minister Rasmani announced his communication with the head of the Inspection Authority, Judge George Attia, who started investigations in coordination with the ministry, where investigators will be sent to uncover the circumstances of what happened. Painters confirmed the ministry’s commitment to presenting the results of the investigation in a transparency immediately after its completion.

The minister stressed that the traffic congestion witnessed in the region was not only the result of the water gathering, but also due to other factors such as traffic jams (Bottlecks) and confusion caused by precipitation, explaining that the random throwing of waste exacerbates the problem of blockage of drainage channels.

He also called on citizens, municipalities, sweeping companies and waste lifting to adhere to maintaining general hygiene and waste disposal in places designated to avoid clogging of drainage networks. He stressed that the ministry continues to follow up on this file and take all necessary measures to ensure the integrity of the infrastructure and the effectiveness of rainwater drainage.

The Ministry indicated that an additional statement will be issued as soon as the investigations are completed to clarify more details about the incident and the procedures taken.
