Al -Hajj stressed, in a speech at the World Mobile Communications Conference (MWC) in Barcelona, ​​that “the commitment of the Lebanese government is fixed reform that is not shaken.” He said: “We in the Ministry of Communications are working on two parallel tracks: organizational reforms and investment in infrastructure, and this includes the application of communications laws that stipulate the formation of the Communications Regulatory Authority, and the establishment of Libyan Telecom as an institution capable of leading the communications sector towards the communications sector towards A more sophisticated and efficient future. ”

He added: “We are keen to improve the digital infrastructure in Lebanon by expanding the optical fiber network to include all regions, while strengthening the 4G network to ensure comprehensive and high -quality coverage. At the international level, we will launch a new sea cable that connects Lebanon to Cyprus and Europe by the end of this year, in addition to that we will seek to modernize the wild cable linking Beirut to Damascus and Oman, which enhances the digital interconnection between the Arab countries and the Mediterranean, and opens to Lebanon broader horizons to communicate with global markets.

He continued: “Our vision goes beyond recovery.

On the sidelines of his participation in the conference, Al -Hajj met his Jordanian counterpart Sami Samarrat. During the meeting, ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the telecommunications sector were discussed.

The two parties discussed current projects and existing challenges, in addition to the prospects for future cooperation. The ways to develop partnership and exchange experiences were also discussed to enhance innovation and achieve sustainable development in this vital sector.

Al -Hajj also had a tour of the exhibition halls, where he visited the wings of Lebanese companies participating in the conference, listened to the explanations of companies officials about the services they provide and the challenges facing telecommunications companies in Lebanon, and listened to their solutions proposals, promising to “provide support through the tangible improvement that will begin to appear, successively, to secure an environment that stimulates creativity and competitiveness for Lebanese companies working in the field of communications and information technology, information technology, Which witnesses continuous technological revolutions.
