Decides of controversy within the “party”: recognition of mistakes or signs of division?

Charbel Makhlouf – Central

A massive wave of resentment and wide reactions prevailed in the “Hezbollah” circles during the past hours, against the backdrop of a televised interview conducted by the party’s resource and border file, the leader Nawaf Al -Mousawi. He considered that the party made errors and was short during the months of fierce military confrontations with the Israelis, which led to its severe strikes targeting its military structure.

One of the most prominent things Al -Musawi said in this context is that the Israeli was not smart as much as the party was short, as he committed mistakes that enabled the enemy to achieve his goals.

Al -Mousawi pointed out that among these grave mistakes is the failure of the relevant security authorities to examine the “Bejjar” devices that the party imported a while ago from abroad and distributed them widely among its military cadres, to use them as a substitute for mobile phones and other communication devices that the enemy can penetrate and dismantle its code. However, these same agencies were a means by which the Israeli targeted the party’s elements, as it was detonated in their hands, which resulted in the injury of at least ten thousand fighters, leaving many of them damaged, wounded or lost. This was the first severe blow that the party received, followed by other strikes, most notably the assassination of former Secretary -General Hassan Nasrallah and the full military leadership.

Is these statements an indication of a division within the party, where each party has its opinion on “victory” and “defeat”, in contrast to what Naim Qasim announced? And in advance, did the party end up militarily, at the end of the era of its former general secretary, Hassan Nasrallah?

The journalist and political writer Asaad Bishara told Al -central: “In order for Nawaf Al -Mousawi’s statements to publicly, this means that they are already discussed inside the closed rooms of Hezbollah, and certainly sharply. Is this indicating the existence of a division within the party? I do not think that there is a clear and declared division, but certainly there is an inventory of an account that may lead to the overthrow of heads, and perhaps to the emergence of multiple trends more clearly within the party’s political, military and security hierarchy.

He adds: “It remains that the Iranian officer, in the sense of the Iranian factor, is now able to contain these differences, but not for a long time. Whenever Hezbollah incurred a loss or defeat, there will be those who pay for it within the party, not the party as a whole, and the words of Al -Musawi are an indication of this matter.”

And on the end of the party’s military role after the assassination of Nasrallah, Bishara believes that Hezbollah has lost 80% of its military strength and most of its political influence after the assassination of its former Secretary -General and the “biographies” incident, and the missile and weapons stores were displayed to Israeli strikes. But it indicates that the party is still working as an armed militia, but not with the aim of fighting Israel, but rather an internal job, and therefore it is not possible to talk about the end of Hezbollah’s military or political party, although its influence has declined significantly.
