Türkiye wants to be part of any new European security structure in the event of NATO disintegration

The Turkish Foreign Minister said that his country wants to be part of any new European security structure in the event of the disintegration of the “NATO”, and in another context, the Israeli attacks on Syria described Syria as “a clear provocation.”

In an interview with the “Financial Times” newspaper, Hakan Fidan described the measures taken by US President Donald Trump as “an invitation to us to wake up in order to unite and design our own weight center,” stressing that Turkey will seek to be “part of any new European security structure if NATO collapses.”

“The genie came out of the bottle, and it cannot be returned,” Vidan added, noting that even if Trump decides not to withdraw from Europe at the present time, “it is possible that a person with similar political views and ideas can come in the future and consider reducing America’s contributions to Europe’s security.”

On the Israeli attacks and movements in Syria, Fidan said it is a “clear provocation”, pointing out that “Israel sees every Arab and Muslim country a threat, and this is very dangerous. Its strategy based on weakening all border countries is not continuing. ”

Fidan explained that the greatest concern for his country is the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is supported by the United States, recalling that he has repeatedly warned that the Syrian Democratic Forces, whose number of fighters is estimated at 65,000, must solve itself and expel non -Syrian fighters, otherwise they will face the threat of Turkish military intervention again.

He said: “These people are the archenemy enemies … There are about 2000 fighters from the PKK, and up to 5,000 other fighters from its Syrian branches,” stressing that “we cannot allow the Syrian Democratic Forces to continue, but we want to give the Syrian government an opportunity to take responsibility in this regard and address the problem themselves.”

In an attempt to address the novel that the Kurdish forces are necessary to prevent the return of ISIS, Fidan called for the establishment of a regional alliance to fight the organization, as an alternative to the American mission.

He added that the Turkish forces can take over the camps and prisons managed by the Syrian Democratic Forces in northeastern Syria, which includes tens of thousands of ISIS fighters and members of their families, if necessary.

He said: “It is related to intelligence and air force. So, if we, the direct neighbors of Syria, can form a regional platform, we will continue to fight ISIS, even if the United States decides to withdraw. ”

He continued, “One day, the United States, the United Kingdom and France decided to withdraw its support for the Syrian opposition against Bashar al -Assad, and its role in Syria has shortened to fight ISIS with the support of the PKK. But the situation of a terrorist organization in another confrontation was not the correct idea.
