3 items of the first challenges before the cabinet today and the appointments under the microscope

From today, attention is directed to the internal entitlements accumulated before the covenant and the government, as the cabinet session, which will be held today at the Baabda Palace, is practically the first session in the start of the implementation of the ministerial statement.

Three items on the agenda of the session will be the first of the challenges that the government will undertake successively, which is the presentation of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, which he depicted to implement the reformal obligations, and the issue of the current year budget project set by the previous government, and the initiation of the appointments workshop, starting with vitality, in the highest military, security, banking and judicial positions.

Information “Lebanon 24” reported that extensive contacts took place before the cabinet session, especially with regard to the issue of security appointments, and the result of contacts was agreed to postpone them except for the army leadership and the State Security Directorate.

According to the information of “Lebanon 24”, Brigadier Rudolf Heikal will appoint the commander of the army and it is likely to be appointed by Brigadier Edgar Londs as the general manager of state security.

Al -Nahar wrote: The start of the appointment file will take great importance, given that this file will be under the microscope of censorship and audit internally and externally as the basic indicator of the government’s obligations and reform standards that have become a comprehensive requirement to shake the dark image of power, as it has become one of the main conditions for providing financial, reconstruction and economic support for Lebanon.

Al -Nahar added: It was learned that the Prime Minister will address the file of appointments with a detailed explanation in the cabinet session today. Salam does not object to the minister’s presentation of candidates, to pass through the mechanism project.

It is expected that the priority for appointments in the army leadership, public security directorates, state security, internal security and customs will remain, and peace is not expected to obtain any problem in the names nominated for these sites with President Joseph Aoun, and financial appointments are being done from the governor of the Bank of Lebanon to financial appointments in other institutions as well as the financial public prosecutor.

“Al -Watan Call” wrote that today’s session will not witness appointments, and the issue of the independent headquarters of the Council of Ministers, which is behind the National Museum, will be presented, but the headquarters needs to be restored, especially as it is outside the service since 2007, and there is another barrier related to the security of the headquarters where it is located in a population area inhabitant and commercial, which means that the region is forced to close with each session of the Council of Ministers, as well as the strict security measures on The roads leading to the arrival of the participants in the sessions.

The “construction” stated that the basket of appointments in the security, military, judicial and financial sites have not yet matured and still need consultations between the presidents of the republic, the government, the ministers of money, defense and the interior, noting that in today’s session the files will not be presented from outside the agenda.

While the army commander’s location has become almost decided and has no disagreement because the President of the Republic has the weighted opinion on this site, but the information indicates that the army leadership sites and the governance of the Bank of Lebanon will be subject to the American influence.

Al -Akhbar wrote: The Cabinet today holds a session, the first after the government has confidence. The agenda that was distributed to the ministers included the two reforms and budgets, while the appointment clause was absent in light of the circulation of information on the possibility of offering it from outside the agenda, especially since the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, is in a rush to the approval of some of them, especially in the security and military centers, specifically in the leadership of the army where it seems, so far, that the director of operations, Brigadier General Rudolph Heikal is the most fortunate to take over. It is learned that the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri may visit Baabda today to meet Aoun and discuss the file of appointments, but that the order of the visit was not decided until yesterday night, because there is no consensus yet on a number of appointments, especially in public security and state security, which may prevent the item from offering a government session from outside the table.

And the brigade wrote: Two major items will attend the first cabinet session after confidence today in Baabda: The first item: The results of the talks of President Joseph Aoun with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the kings and Arab presidents, who participated in the emergency Arab summit in Cairo, and the second item the map of reforms and how to place them on the table, an extension of the appointments on the agenda or from outside the table.
According to the information, the appointment of a new army commander will be the first decisions to be issued by the Council of Ministers today.

Prime minister
President Nawaf Salam announced in response to the clarifications of “Al -Nahar” yesterday that “he will only accept to put a transparent mechanism in choosing the names that will be appointed in the departments, especially since their nature differs from military positions.” He stressed that “he will only accept the appointment of the best and most efficient in the departments and the application of this Muslim to the candidates.” Salam starts from a fixed one that will work on it, “If we want to build effective and productive institutions, people from the sufficiency must be brought in.” This is what he stresses in choosing members of the bodies regulating electricity, communications and aviation due to the importance of these sectors in the renaissance of the economy and providing the services required for citizens.
