In Cairo .. Aoun met the Emir of Qatar, the Jordanian monarch and the Palestinian president


The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, continued the series of meetings he held with the heads of delegations participating in the emergency Arab summit in Cairo.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Aoun, the Emir of the State of Qatar, met Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and offered with him the Lebanese-Qatari relations and public conditions in Lebanon and the region. After Sheikh Tamim congratulated the President of the Republic on his election, he affirmed his country’s readiness, “continuing to provide support to the army and assist in supporting vital projects such as developing the electricity sector.”


At the end of the meeting, President Aoun and Sheikh Tamim exchanged the official invitations to visit the two countries.

President Aoun also met the Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II Bin Al -Hussein, in the presence of members of the Lebanese and Jordanian delegations to the summit, and discussed with him the relations between the two countries and the general conditions in the region and the situation in Syria in light of recent developments.

President Aoun thanked the Jordanian monarch for the support provided by the Hashemite Kingdom to the Lebanese army, and the king stressed that “a new batch of military vehicles will be sent to Lebanon to support the army.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who congratulated him on his election as President of the Republic, also met to him, “Supporting the Palestinian Authority and its support for all the measures taken by the Lebanese government to enhance the state’s sovereignty over its entire lands and implement resolution 171.”

President Aoun thanked President Abbas for his congratulations and renewed him, “Lebanon’s position supporting the Palestinians’ right to establish their state and not to displace them, and what was mentioned in the 2002 Peace Initiative in Beirut.”
