Among them, Muhammad Dahlan … Abbas announces a general amnesty regarding those separated from Fatah

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced the issuance of a general amnesty that includes all those separated from the Fatah movement, with regulatory measures necessary to implement the decision, in a move aimed at rearranging the internal house of the movement.

Abbas revealed the creation of the position of Vice President of the PLO and the State of Palestine, noting that this step comes within the framework of facing the challenges that are currently ravaged by the Palestinian issue.

He added: “We are working to restructure the leadership frameworks of the state, and pump new blood into the organization, the Fatah movement and state agencies, and we are working to hold a meeting of the Palestinian Central Council during the coming period.”

The Palestinian leader, Muhammad Dahlan, who is currently leading the democratic reform stream within the Fatah movement.

The dispute between Abbas and Dahlan is one of the most prominent political conflicts within the movement and the Palestinian Authority during the past two decades.

Dahlan held the position of head of the Preventive Security Service in Gaza during the nineties and early millennium, and he was a prominent figure inside Fatah. But after the movement lost in the 2006 elections and Hamas controlled the Gaza Strip in 2007, Abbas accused him of responsibility for the failure of the security services to prevent the fall of the sector.

In 2011, the crisis escalated between the two parties, as Abbas Dahlan was accused of corruption and conspiracy to overthrow him, which led to his expulsion from the movement and the issuance of judicial rulings against him, which ended in his exile to the Emirates, where he is currently residing.
