In America … the appointment of a wrestling director, Minister of Education

The US Senate voted in favor of confirming the appointment of Linda McMahon, former executive director in wrestling, as Minister of Education, in a move that sparked widespread controversy, due to her unconventional professional background for this position.

The move comes within the framework of US President Donald Trump’s pledge to dismantle the Ministry of Education, as McMahon faces a dual task represented in the liquidation of the ministry, while strengthening efforts to implement the Trump educational agenda.

Trump had previously signed widespread orders to cancel diversity programs in schools, withdraw the facilities provided to sexually transformed students, as well as support for the expansion of school selection programs. He also announced his desire to close the ministry completely, saying that he wanted McMahon to “make herself without a job.”

The Senate voting came in favor of its appointment by a majority of 51 votes against 45, reflecting the sharp division on education policies in the United States.
