Indonesia recorded the first annual decline in consumer prices in more than two decades with low electricity prices and some basic food commodities, which could provide an opportunity for the Indonesian Central Bank to reduce interest if the rupee exchange rate stabilizes.

According to the data of the Indonesian Statistical Office issued, consumer prices decreased during the past month by 0.09 percent annually, which is the first decrease of its kind since March 2000.
