French newspaper announces: Israel has not destroyed Hamas!

The French newspaper “Le Monde” confirmed that the ceasefire in Gaza between the Israeli army and the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” enters a sensitive stage, at a time when pressure is increasing to achieve the transition to the second stage of the agreement.

The newspaper pointed out in an editorial that the second stage of this agreement will be decisive in the release of all Israeli prisoners who were captured during the attack that took place on October 7, 2023, which is a necessary step to ensure stability in the region.

The French newspaper said, “It is necessary to successfully move to the second stage,” stressing that “the hostages who have been subjected to ordeal that lasted for a longer period often should be reunited with their families as soon as possible.”

The newspaper stated that the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip should “come out of this long period of terror”, after months of violence and forced displacement.

The newspaper pointed out that “about 60 hostages are still” with the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip, although “it is not known specifically the number of people who died during this period.”

The newspaper pointed out that this sensitive stage of the ceasefire agreement coincided with a strong opposition from the extremist Israeli right, which strongly opposes the second stage of the agreement.

The newspaper added that “the hostages, who have suffered long, need hope to reunite them with their families,” while the Palestinians in Gaza must “return to permanent calm after months of terror and forced displacement”, although this may mean “living in a dangerous life in a field of ruins.”

The newspaper emphasized that the number of Palestinian martyrs, which is estimated at more than 48,300 martyrs, mostly civilians, according to statistics that the United Nations considers reliable, represents an “unprecedented number in the history of this conflict.”

She pointed out that this huge number of victims reflects “the extent of the destruction in the Gaza region, which will remain under Israel’s strict control,” explaining that “the reconstruction of the region will be a diplomatic and financial challenge.”

The newspaper pointed out that “the size of the direct and indirect extensions of the Gaza war, including the weakening of the Lebanese Hezbollah, and the overthrow of the Bashar al -Assad regime in Syria, contributed to strengthening Israel’s position at the regional level,” noting that these results are the opposite of Hamas’s expectations.

In conclusion, the French newspaper stressed that Israel “was unable to completely destroy Hamas”, despite the harsh strikes it received, noting that eliminating the movement constitutes a “long -standing challenge” despite the promises of the coalition led by Benjamin Netanyahu. (Arabi 21)
