Inside their country … an impressive story for Syrians who were overwhelmed by the cold and exhausted them frost

The cold wave that strikes Syria and Turkey deepened the tragedy of the displaced and the Syrian refugees living in the camps after temperatures in northern Syria and southern Turkey recorded a decrease to about 5 degrees below zero, at a time when most of them are unable to secure expensive heating fuel.


According to a new report published by the “Al -Jazeera Net” website, the people of Al -Amal camp have spent the displaced Syrians in Idlib countryside difficult days, due to the cold wave that has been beating the area for several days, stressing that it is the harshest for more than a decade and the most severe for the people who have experienced long winter chapters.

Hussein Al -Qadour, 55, a resident of the camp, says that he and his family members go out in the daytime hours in search of nylon bags and the remains of the dry branches in order to ignite it inside the primitive heater in which they throw anything burning, despite the dangers of smoke emitted.

Al -Qaddour confirmed to Al -Jazeera Net, that he is unable to buy fuel or even firewood, which exceeds the price of one kilogram of it is 8 Turkish pounds (the currency circulated in Idlib and its countryside), pointing to the absence of a fixed source of income for him as it works in the olive harvest season to obtain a low wage.

The Syrian displaced pointed out that all members of his family were injured in cold and coughing, as a result of the depression and the absence of heating inside the old tents provided the Syrian war, explaining that the support is completely cut off from the camp.

For her part, Maryam Al -Muhammad, 62, complains of excruciating pain that infiltrates its ends at night, due to the severe cold, which deprives her of the pleasure of slavery and eternity to sleep like the rest of the human beings, stressing that she had not obtained heating fuel for years.

With the advent of the absent, Maryam throws the remains of worn clothes in the small heater, in order to obtain a little warmth, and with the burning of the collected fabric, and her elderly husband is forced to wrap themselves with all the blankets they have to face the severe cold.

The camps in charge of the camps confirm that there is an almost complete interruption to support the displaced, as if their cause turned into a secondary issue after the fall of the Bashar al -Assad regime nearly 3 months ago, as most of them speak that the organizations went with their work to the newly liberated areas of the former Syrian President Bashar al -Assad regime.

Ibrahim Al -Baraho, director of the “Al -Amal” camp in northern Syria, confirms that the camp residents have not obtained any food or fuel for heating since the beginning of the winter season, at a time when all depend on igniting the dry branches and cartoon remains for a few heating inside the tents.

In an interview with Al -Jazeera Net, Al -Baruh warned that the majority of the camp residents were injured during the current cold wave of diseases, due to the absence of heating, pointing to the transfer of dozens of children and the elderly to the city of Darkoush, near the camp.

Return hopes

And not far from the camps of the displaced Syrians, Syrian refugees spoke in the “Klas” camp in southern Turkey, that they lived a harsh air depression, about a week ago, with living and service conditions that seem better than the displaced people inside Syria, thanks to the services provided by the Turkish authorities.

Also, Abu Asaad, 48, a Syrian refugee, says that the cold wave imposed a curfew inside the camp, forcing the refugees to commit the caravans in which they live, pointing out that he did not extinguish the electric heater for the past cold days.

With the fall of the Assad regime, Abu Asaad hopes that the current chapter will be the last winter he spends in the camp, with the hopes of returning to the homeland, stressing that he will return to build his destroyed house in the northern countryside of Aleppo and stability in Syria.
