Development with Syria is at the completion of a comprehensive file

Dolly Beshaalani wrote in “Al -Diyar”: In order to start a serious dialogue with Syria, informed political sources say that the Lebanese government must soon be assigned a ministerial delegation to carry out this matter in cooperation and coordination with the new Syrian administration. Also, it is necessary to start with the relevant ministries, especially the national defense, foreign, expatriates and interior, and social affairs and education, will be attended by their files related to these two issues, which will be discussed with Syria. Today, since the peace government intends to build relations with the new Syrian government to control the borders on both sides and demarcate them, a comprehensive file that includes all information and border maps must be equipped to agree on the demarcation, especially as it is a very complex issue. Currently, “Israeli” is offered in the abstract area of ​​weapons, and internal clashes in Syria, which makes it difficult to find the radical solution to the issue of demarcation. Likewise, several points are no longer clearly defined due to the destruction that caused it, which makes the situation very confused, and requires the opinion of experts, topographic and others. Also, there are intertwined border areas, and a number of Lebanese live in areas that have been located on the Syrian side for decades, and solutions must be found for the population of these areas as well.









As for the resolve of the issue of the displaced Syrians, the sources indicated that this issue was discussed between former Prime Minister Naguib Mikati and President Ahmed Al -Shara, during his visit to Damascus before the end of his government’s era … and the Lebanese government still incurred the burden of hosting more than two million Syrian displaced people on its soil, despite the return of about 300 thousand after the fall of the Bashar al -Assad regime. Hence, the new government will not link, according to the sources, between the return of the displaced Syrians, and other files such as the liberalization of the money of the Syrians or the reconstruction of Syria, because this matter will hinder any mechanism to return the displaced to their country. Accordingly, it will work to develop a clear and rapid strategic plan to achieve the return stipulating a total of things, most notably:

1- A mandatory return to the displaced, especially after the fall of all excuses that make their return “voluntary and safe”.

2- The request from the High Commissioner for Refugees in Lebanon to help him facilitate this return.

3- A decision was issued by the Ministry of Education to stop the education of the children of the displaced Syrians in Lebanese schools, starting next year.
