Increased departure fees in Japan

The Japanese government is considering increasing leaving fees for travelers from 1000 yen ($ 6.7) to between 3000 and 5,000 yen, which represents an increase that may reach about 5 times.

This aims to use the outcome of these fees to combat the effects of excessive tourism in Japan, where the number of tourists last year recorded a record level of 37 million. The tourist spending increased by 69%, achieving a record number of 8.1 trillion yen. (Sky News)
