Unbearable situation .. World food announces the evacuation of its employees from a camp for the displaced, western Sudan

The World Food Program announced, on Wednesday, the evacuation of its employees from the Zamzam camp for the Sudanese displaced in the state of North Darfur (west) as a result of the escalation of violence in the area that is under constant bombing of the Rapid Support Forces.

Zamzam camp is located 12 km from the city of El -Fasher, west of Sudan, and international organizations announced in August 2024 a famine inside the camp due to the lack of food.

The Sudanese government, international organizations and popular committees accuse the “Rapid Support Forces” of the attack and the bombing of the camp with an artillery at a frequent pace, while the latter says that “the army forces and the forces supporting it use the camp as a military base.”

“Global Food” said through his account on the X platform, that “over the past two weeks, the escalation of violence (the bombing of the rapid support forces of Al -Faisher) has not left the World Food Program partners in front of the option other than evacuating the employees (without specifying their number or destination) from Zamzam camp in North Darfur in search of safety.

He explained that “safe and regular access to hungry societies is the only way to stop starvation.” (Anatolia)
