After the 18 -hour sessions, the government of Nawaf Salam receives confidence in the support of 95 deputies


Today, Wednesday, the government of President Nawaf Salam won the confidence of the House of Representatives to support 95 vice -out of 128.

12 deputies announced that they did not trust the government, while 4 other deputies abstained from the vote.

The vote on the government came after sessions held by the House of Representatives over 18 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday in 4 consecutive and evening sessions.

The number of representatives speaking was 48 deputies, while the speech concluded Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, who commented on the interventions of the deputies.

In his speech, Salam affirmed his full commitment to assuming responsibility to the challenges facing Lebanon, stressing that he will no longer be allowed to miss opportunities, waste time, or waste capabilities.

He explained that the government will seriously take decisive steps to face the dangers surrounding the country.

Salam pointed out that the government will work quickly to find solutions to the issue of depositors, based on the protection of their rights, stressing that it will develop a comprehensive plan for the economic advancement. He also revealed plans to activate the electricity sector through the formation of the electricity regulator in the coming weeks, in addition to working to improve the level of collection and stop the encroachments on the network to increase the nutrition.

Regarding the administrative situation, Salam stressed that the government will seek to activate the public administration and address paralysis in government departments, by qualifying employees and improving their conditions affected by the crises. He also pledged to improve the conditions of the military and ensure the continuity of the revenues of the judges.

In the field of external relations, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed that Lebanon is committed to defending its sovereignty and rights, especially in the face of Israeli attacks, noting that the government will continue to mobilize Arab and international support to pressure Israel to stop its repeated violations of Lebanese sovereignty. He also added that the government will work to open a serious dialogue with the Syrian authorities in order to facilitate the return of the displaced Syrians to their country.

Salam also revealed plans to create a reconstruction fund, with the aim of mobilizing Arab and international support to launch a rebuilding workshop, and indicated that appointments will be filled in departments in the coming weeks with competent persons.

In the field of political reforms, Salam added that the government will seek to approve administrative decentralization, and consider the required reforms on the election law, stressing that the completion of political reform requires the implementation of the National Accord Document that constitutes the basis for Lebanon’s stability.
