The union council considered that “talking about restructuring the banking sector becomes a necessity after returning the deposits of banks reserved in the Bank of Lebanon and the state holds its responsibilities under the cash and credit law, so the detention of deposits was the direct cause of the banking sector crisis that has been continuing since 2020, which led to the loss The Lebanese were confident in their banking sector, not to mention the decision A catastrophe in terms of the relationship of international organizations with the country and the Lebanese banks.

He stressed that “the reduction in the size of the banking sector will be dangerous for the continuity of the work of thousands of bank users and their families in light of a deteriorating social living reality and the Federation Council will not hesitate to follow the policy of confrontation through sit -ins, demonstrations and even strikes in defense of the banking sector and bank users who have been disbursed from them since The beginning of the banking crisis, and it is unacceptable that employees are exposed to a new wave in these difficult circumstances.

The Federation Council called on the government to accelerate the correction of the minimum wage decree issued in April 2024 and to take the decision of the Shura Council to give an increase of nine million Lebanese pounds that affected the minimum wage on the salaries of all workers in the private sector.

Likewise, the Federation Council called on the Parliament to accelerate the issuance of a law on how to calculate the end of the service compensation that was withdrawn from the General Budget Law for the year 2024.

He hoped, “The Federation Council will initiate the Minister of Labor to sponsor a dialogue between the economic bodies and the General Labor Union with the aim of reaching a social economic charter that addresses all the files related to the affairs of Lebanon’s workers and workers from the issue of social security to the issue of developing the structure of the three -representative bodies.”
