On Saturday, the French authorities praised the security success in the arrest of Mohamed Omar, who was classified as the most dangerous man wanted by the French security and the judiciary, after months of his escape after an armed attack that killed two officers.

The French Ministry of the Interior announced that Omar, nicknamed the “fly”, which is involved in drugs, robbery, violence and killing cases, was arrested in Romania on Saturday.

French President Emmanuel Macron described the operation as “great success”, while Prime Minister Francois Bayro praised the high professionalism and the ongoing efforts of the national police in achieving this achievement. Interior Minister Bruno Ritayo also valued the “decisive cooperation” by Romania in his arrest.

Muhammad Omar (30 years old) succeeded in escaping on May 14, 2024 from a prison truck during a deportation, as the car was exposed to an ambush, killing two police officers and wounding others. Since that incident, it has become one of the most prominent internationalists, and has been included on the INTERPOL list for the wanted.
