A mass on the intention of the martyrs of Zgharta Zawiya in the Church of Mar John the Baptist


A mass was held on the intention of the martyrs of Zgharta Al -Zawiya, who presented their lives in defense of their town and Lebanon, in the Church of Mar John the Baptist – Zgharta, headed by Al -Khursa Bishop Stephen Franjieh with the participation of a group of priests, and attended by Representative Michel Moawad, the media Vera Yamin, representative of the head of the Marada Movement, former Minister Suleiman Franjieh, Lawyer Ziad Khazen, representative of Representative Tony Franjieh, Roderick, a representative of Representative Michel Al -Duwaihi, former MP Jawad Paul, Abdullah Bou Abdullah, representative Pastives, associations, brotherhood, and a crowd of believers.

After reciting the Holy Gospel, Al -Khawsa, Bishop Franjieh, delivered a speech in which he indicated that Bishop Joseph Nafaa, the Patriarchal MP in the Bushra and Zgharta – Ehden Jabal Jabah regions, participates in the prayer from Rome, who prays the intention of healing the greatest ink, Pope Francis.

He pointed out that this mass will be held annually in the souvenir week in honor of the Zgharta martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of the land and dignity. He stressed that the parish will continue to remember the martyrs on the great Friday in all churches, thanking the initiative of Professor Roy Arji, which led to the establishment of this common annual mass.

Franjieh also recalled in his speech, “Zgharta martyrs in modern history, starting with the Lebanese hero Youssef Bey Karam and his companions, through the martyrs of the two -year war and the Ehden massacre, to the martyr President Rein Moawad and his companions, in addition to the martyrs who fell in the ranks of the army and internal security forces, with respect And appreciation to all martyrs from various families who died in internal events.

He said: “The martyrs have given their lives and blood for all of us, and they did not wait thanks to anyone except from God alone, as he alone met the sacrifices. This anniversary is a pause of fulfillment of us, and it is at the same time a cry to preserve Lebanon and the Zaea al -Zawiya, and to remain one coherent family in the service of God and the homeland.

He concluded: “In the name of the loyal, in the name of our mountains and our plains, in the name of our elders and our children, we say to you, martyrs, we are your children, your testimony is honest in our necks, enlightens our paths and pushes us to preserve our unity and love. Mercy and eternity to you. ”

The Mass concluded with the prayer of incense to the comfort of the souls of the martyrs.
