Al -Abyad recalled the situation of the health sector when receiving its ministerial position, “which was on the lips of the abyss in light of a severe economic crisis that affected the state’s budget, and thus on the budget of the Ministry of Health and the purchasing power of the citizens whose income faded. Which led to the interruption of the drug, not only from the Ministry of Health, but also from Lebanon in general.

He also pointed out that upon receiving, “cancer patients were raising their suffering in the street, in light of the interruption of medicines, including the strategic stock. Also, the lack of hospital coverage of citizens, due to the low purchasing power of the lira, which prompted many of them to cover themselves in hospital institutions.

He added: “Besides all of this, the Corona epidemic was still present, in addition to the migration of medical cadres that exceeded 30% of doctors and nurses who left Lebanon, which made our hospital institutions in a critical situation.

Al -Abyad explained that the Ministry of Health intentionally “exploiting the crisis to reform the system through teamwork between the ministry and all the medical and hospital sector and all partners. A road plan was developed represented by the National Health Strategy launched by the Ministry in cooperation with all its partners in early 2023. He stressed, “The importance of the plan to approach the problems of cancer patients in a scientific and organized manner, which necessitated the launch of the” National Cancer Program “, which allowed the process of organizing the prescription and distribution of the drug.

He touched on the “health operations room plan, which has done a mighty work during the period of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, as well as supporting the primary health care sector, which had a major role with the displaced during the war period.”

He pointed to the issue of the mechanization that was followed in the ministry, “which allowed to facilitate the rescue of the health sector and the direction of the great challenges it faced, from the epidemics to the Israeli aggression that targeted the medical, ambulatory cadres and hospital facilities.”

Al -Abyad noted the characteristics and consequences of Nasser Al -Din, considering that the health sector, “has become a custody in his hands, and that there is an opportunity to build on the foregoing of what was accomplished in the ministry.”

He concluded by thanking the partners and the trails of the trail from local and international organizations, associations, unions and colleagues, especially workers in the public sector, in the Ministry of Health who expressed Tafni in work despite the severe financial hardship. “

Nasir al -Din
For his part, Nasser Al -Din thanked Al -Abyad the difficult days he spent in this ministry, wishing him continued success in his academic and scientific career, hoping that “we will benefit from his experience in the public sector.”

He said: “The trust is great and carry it needs everyone. It is a cooperation that must be constructive and positive in a studied and scientific way, which helps us to develop the health sector. ”

He stressed “the importance of the strategic vision, and that the work that took place in the strategic development project for the health sector in Lebanon constitutes a road map before us in the coming days.” He stressed that the competent and scientific committees besides the competencies, “will be detailed in the coming decisions.”

He called to “be realistic, as these are our resources and what is required of us is great. We must balance our goods in a scientific and studied way, and set our priorities according to the need, not passion, as required, not desirable.

He pointed out that his vision is “a completion of a road and a delivery of a road. If it was long for others, it would not have come to you. As we started, we will surrender in a way that is worthy of the health and services sector. ”

He stressed that “health is a basic service for all Lebanese and separation, and it is essential for people and is not related to a group, not with a party or region.”

He said: “We have large addresses in front of the medicine and hospitalization. Hospitalization starting from government and private hospitals, care centers, and medicine from incurable and cancerous diseases to vaccines. The safety of food, mechanization, technology, benefiting from energies and restoring the health sector, especially after the Israeli aggression are all titles and goals for us.

Concluded: “We will form a team to achieve all these titles and we will cooperate with the current team. This ministry for all Lebanese and we hope that we will be aspirations because God is the one who holds us accountable. ”
