Apple has changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to America on its maps

On Tuesday, Apple changed the name “Bay of Mexico” to “The Gulf of America” ​​on its maps, after it became officially US President Donald Trump by the American geographical names system.

This change comes yet. Google, last month, will modify the name as soon as the official list is updated. The company explained, in a post on its blog last Sunday, that it had already started implementing the update.

Google indicated that users in the United States will see the name “Gulf of America”, while users in Mexico will continue to see the old name “Bay of Mexico”, while users in the rest of the world will see the names together.

Trump had issued an order, after assuming his post, to rename the water that borders the southern United States, Mexico and Cuba. The American geographical names system officially updated the name on Sunday evening. Microsoft also made the same change on its maps via the Ping search engine.

For its part, the Associated Press (AB) confirmed that it will continue to use the original name “The Gulf of Mexico”, which this water surface has carried 400 years ago, with reference to the new name “The Gulf of America”.
