A meeting between the UNIFIL leader and the mayor of Tire to enhance local cooperation

The new Western Sector Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) met General Nicolas Mandeles, with the mayor of Tire and the head of the region’s municipalities, Eng. Hassan Dabouq, in an atmosphere of friendliness and great cooperation. A UNIFIL statement indicated that the visit was an important opportunity to enhance the links between UNIFIL and the local community.

After a fruitful exchange of opinions on the main challenges and opportunities in the region, the mayor accompanied the leader on a tour of the city of Tire, where he had the opportunity to meet citizens and closely follow the local reality.

The statement stressed that the meeting highlights the commitment of UNIFIL to maintain an open and constructive dialogue with the local authorities and the population, with the aim of contributing to the reconstruction, stability and security in the region.
