The former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abbas Al -Hajj Hassan, presented in a press conference inventory an account on his period of work in the Ministry of Agriculture, reviewing the most important points that were achieved during his term, aimed at developing the agricultural sector and enhancing food security, summarized the following:

1- Working to approve the applied decrees of the Indian hemp cultivation law: a new stage in investing this cultivation legally.

2- The promotion of wheat transplantation: enhancing food security and reducing dependence on import.

3- Organizing the agricultural sector and launching farmers’ registry: Improving the farmers database to simplify procedures.

4 – Development of the fisheries sector and aquaculture: increasing local fish production.

5 – Confronting the challenges of food security: studying the use of lands and achieving sustainability.

6 – Supporting small farmers: improving livelihoods and providing various aid.

7 – Development of agricultural legislation: preparing bills for strengthening the sector.

8 – Arab and international cooperation: strengthening sustainable agriculture through joint initiatives.

9 – Improving the quality of agricultural products: pest control and launching a system of monitoring and monitoring of food pollutants.

10 – Protecting the local product and combating smuggling: developing policies to protect local farmers.

11 – Enhancing sustainable agriculture: encouraging medical agriculture and protecting forest resources.

12 – Development of the animal sector: Campaign to vaccinate and apply the law of animal welfare.

13- Promoting cooperative work: improving cooperation between farmers and local cooperatives.

14 – Agricultural scientific research: launching projects to improve agricultural production and technologies.

15 – Agricultural infrastructure and the green project: qualifying agricultural lands and improving the environment.

16 – Wiping the agricultural damage caused by the Israeli aggression: assessing damage and preparing projects for support and compensation.

17 – Cooperation with the funded countries and international organizations: supporting the national economy through agricultural projects and building the best relations with international bodies.

At the end of the conference, Haj Hassan expressed his pride in what has been accomplished, stressing that “the agricultural sector will remain at the heart of its interests,” praising “continuous cooperation with farmers and international bodies to achieve sustainable development.”
