In the heart of the Mediterranean … Hugerbitz warns of “devastating earthquakes”!

The famous Dutch earthquakes, Frank Hoilds, warned of the risk of devastating earthquakes and volcanic activity in the Mediterranean region, noting that three countries may be the most affected by these natural phenomena, namely Turkey, Greece and Italy.

He also indicated signs of a volcanic explosion in the area, warning of a large earthquake that may hit the Levant.

Hogeritus explained in publications on his page on the “X” platform, to him that “the risk of destructive earthquakes includes Turkey, Greece (the Aegean Sea) and Italy (the Ionian Sea)”, adding that “last night we witnessed a major earthquake on the Caribbean plate”, considering that seismic activity is Continue in the area.

He talked about tectonism in the Mediterranean region, where there is a European plate in the north, an African plate in the south, in addition to the Arab painting in the southeast, the Anatolia plate and the Aegean Sea plate that separates Turkey and Greece.

He explained that the Arab plate is pushing to the north against the Anatolia plate, which leads to earthquakes, pointing to the large earthquake that struck the East Anatolia rift in 2023 with a power of 7.8 and 7.5 degrees.

He pointed out that the northern Anatolia region, which is one of the most active areas of seismic, may be exposed to large earthquakes as a result of the pressure of the Arab plate on the Anatolia plate. He continued, “During 120 years, Greece has not seen a major earthquake, but an earthquake is expected to soon occur with a power of 7 Richter,” he added.

Regarding Italy, Hogrips said that there is a history of large earthquakes in the south of the country, where strong earthquakes occurred at the beginning of the last century. He also pointed out that Italy is subjected to major earthquakes periodically as a result of the interaction of the Adriatic and the African plate in the Mediterranean.

He talked about the connection of earthquakes with volcanoes in the region, explaining that there is an active volcanic arch extending from southern Türkiye to Crete and then to Greece. He pointed out that there is a continuous seismic activity in that area, with many active volcanoes such as Santorini’s volcano.

Hogebettis confirmed that there is no evidence of magma’s leakage to the upper crust at the present time, but he warned of the possibility of changes in the future. He warned that the largest earthquake in the region may be in southern Italy, noting that this earthquake would be devastating, with the possibility of an earthquake of 7 Richter in central Italy as well.

At the conclusion of his warnings, Hoppers stressed that Italy is not immune to destroyed earthquakes, expecting an earthquake soon in central and southern Italy. He added that anomalies in the atmosphere may indicate more seismic activity in the region.
