Baltic countries begin to separate from the Russian electricity network

The Baltic countries began secession from the Russian electricity network on Saturday at five o’clock GMT, according to what was reported by the public company operating the electricity network in Lithuania, “Litigrid”.

The company spokesman Matas Norica said: “I confirm that the separation process started at six o’clock (local time)” after Lithuania separated its electrical connections with Belarus and Russia.

This project was a year ago and became urgent with the Russian invasion of Ukraine almost three years ago, according to Agence France -Presse.
