Lebanon today »Any solution will not be at the expense of our country’s security

On Wednesday, the King of Jordan, Abdullah II, warned of the danger of attempts to displace the Palestinians, pointing out that “any solution will not be at the expense of the security and stability of Jordan and the region.”

This came during a phone call with Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed, according to a statement by the Royal Court.

The call comes after US President Donald Trump revealed during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on Tuesday, his intention to seize the Gaza Strip and displace the Palestinians from it, which sparked widespread regional and international reactions.

The statement stated that King Abdullah stressed “the necessity of continuing Arab coordination to deal effectively with the issues of the region, especially the dangerous developments in Gaza and the West Bank.”

He warned of “the danger of attempts to displace the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza,” noting that “any solution will not be at the expense of the security and stability of Jordan and the region.”

He reaffirmed “the necessity of intensifying Arab efforts to confirm the Palestinians on their land, sustaining the ceasefire in Gaza, and enhancing the humanitarian response,” according to the same source.

The communication touched on “the efforts made to find a political horizon to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two -state solution (Palestinian and Israeli).”

The two leaders affirmed their keenness to “continue consultation and exchange views, especially in light of the developments in the region.”
